About The Case Room
The Case Room is an interactive way to explore famous unsolved or disputed historical mysteries, including the JFK assassination, the Moon landing hoax claims, Roswell and Area 51. It is an independent history site and is not affiliated with any government agency. The goal is to help you think like an investigator, which means telling documented facts apart from speculation.
What you do here
You move through a handful of rounds. Some questions ask how you approach evidence: whether you trust measurements over stories, or whether you start with the people involved. Others are short fact checks that cover what the record actually shows, such as how a rancher's 1947 find near Roswell was first announced and later explained, or what a CIA history said about the U-2 flights over Groom Lake. Answering earns points whether you are right or wrong.
Hot takes and the other side
Every round includes a contested claim. You vote, then you read the strongest case for the opposite view. Shared vote counts are not available yet, so you see only your own answer, and the page says so. Seeing the best counter-argument is part of the exercise.
Where the AI comes in
Parts of the page are written live by AI, and each one is labelled. After your answers, an AI writes an investigator profile for you. An investigation partner can chat about the round, and it is instructed to separate documented facts from speculation and not to state any theory as fact. You can also leave a short note of your own, but sharing it with other people is not switched on yet, so nothing you write there is published. The AI can still make mistakes, so use it as a thinking partner and not as a source. For the underlying facts, follow the sources in our articles.
Points, badges and your case file
Your answers earn points and badges. At the end the page offers to email you your case notes, but that step is a preview for now: no email address is stored and nothing is sent.
Your progress is kept only in your browser's session storage, so closing the tab clears it. The AI companion relies on a live service that is not always reachable. When it is unavailable, the page says so plainly and lets you skip ahead.
